This toffee boozy black bombshell is a throwback to one of the most extraordinary black barley wines we ever produced: Peer Pressure back in 2015. Consider this heavily tattooed P(r)ommes Queen her mouthy little successor. Hopped excessively with Cascade and aged endlessly in Calvados casks, this sophisticated diva balances the deep caramel undertones of Norman brandy with malty apple sweetness. Donker bruin bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is warm en krachtig, alcohol en licht zoet met duidelijk iets van appel, calvados, wat vanille, pruimen en rozijnen. Hel goed.

330 ml bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown with light head. Aromas of candi sugar, muddled fruit, sharp caramel malts. Flavors of caramel apples, sweet boozy calvados, dark fruit, and bready malts. Warm. Sipper.

Bottle sample at a Yana's tasting at Max's place. Dark brown. Dark fruits, acetaldehyde, lots of alcohol, caramel, sweet and unmami, boozy. Over the top.

On tap at Bierproeflokaal In De Wildeman, pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a small tan head. Aroma is extremely rich, with intense calvados that really brings out the apple butterscotch, along with dark dried fruits and some burnt sugars. Flavour is very rich, with intense apple brandy, butterscotch, and brown sugar. Lots of apple and butterscotch on the finish with a fair bit of booze. Very good but perhaps not the most refined.

Draft at the Blind Tiger, Peterborough. Deep cola almost black colour with a tan head. Aroma and taste are malty toffee and boozy, Slight apple and sweet. Full body.

Draught, 14.8% at Craft and Draft. Vanilla aroma, vinous, cocoa powder. Black colour. Small light brown head. The flavour is sweet and vinous, raisin, malt sugar, dark caramel. Quite sweet, but ok balanced by alcohol. Late sweet maltiness.

0.33 l bottle from 'Smaakhuis.nl', bottled in November 2022. Very dark ruby to black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Intensely sweetish-malty, slightly roasty and quite fruity aroma of molasses, calvados, brown sugar, chocolate, raisins, some vanilla and light oak. Fairly sweet, malty, slightly roasty, quite boozy and gently fruity taste of molasses, raisins, chocolate, huge calvados, vanilla, prunes and some oak, followed by a long, moderately bitter, quite boozy, minimally woody finish. Medium to full body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Lovely beer, fairly complex and intense. Great style, great barrel, very well-executed, only a tad too boozy. Exactly how I like my beer!

33cl Fles van De Laat. Donkerbruine kleur, beige kraag. Zoet, calvados, caramel, moutig, krenten en rozijnen, redelijk zoet en bitter, appelstroop, hout, vanille, bitterzoete finish. Medium tot volle body. Lekker.
