Bottled. A hazy red beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of citrusy hops, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, malt, over ripe fruits, and caramel, leading to a dry alcohol finish, where the notes of over ripe fruits lingers. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours an almost clear nutty brown with a discreetly lacing beige head. Heavy greasy hop aroma, a little dark fruits. Solid body, sweet roast and licorice with citrusy hop notes. Very boozy finish - a little much. 141111

Bottle at Home, 28th October 2011. Pours with a smooth head that fades, aroma is liquorish and pine, not so much dark chocolate as the Black 2. Taste is strong, pine and hops undertone of the liquorish, the alcohol comes through, but drinks smoothly and below its ABV - one special beer.

Opaque black beer, thick pale tan head. Nose of pine and subtle fruit. Smooth palate with mild carbonation. Strong piney hops with a lovely sweet citrus underpinning it. A little spicy. The smooth dark malt base is a little creamy with subtle dark chocolate. There is a little aniseed booze here but it belongs and integrates well. Finishes smooth with more pine. Tasty treat of a beer which may well get even better in the next few weeks! Original rating 3.9

Light haze on this deep dark red beer. Small pale tan head. Palate is a lovely combination of smoothness mixed with prickly carbonation. Creamy malt with dark chocolate and a trace of coffee. Smooth but bittering piney hops perfectly balance the malt. Semi dry finish. Sumptuous and delightful this has got smoother and even more well integrated in the bottle.

Dark, nutty brown, opague colour with a full off-white head. Smells cheese, sweaty feet and unfresh. Tastes very fresh, hoppy, bitter and fruity. Great carbo, full bitter body.

On caskat Borefts 2011. Dark brown colour with lasting thick beige head. Hoppy as hell on aroma. Now that is really quite good. Lots of hops. Some choc touch of mintyness and roastyness. Decent if a bit boozy maybe.

Draught at Borefts 2011. Mild citric hop aroma. Muddy grey brown colour. Very small white head. The flavour is citric and teaish. Does not taste dark or roasted or anything. Good alcohol level.

Bottle at the Kernel Brewery. It pours darkest brown, with a thick beige head. The nose is pine, caramel, toffee, warming, molasses and roasted malt. The taste is caramel, pine, brown sugar, toffee, Scottish tablet, salted liquorice, resin, treacle, pepper, smoke, roasted malt and alcohol warmth, with a big bitter-sweet finish. Medium to full body, moderate carbonation and sticky mouth-feel. Full of flavour.
