Buttenheimer Löwenbräu Bartholomäus Festbier, 5,4 %, Flasche von Hopfen & Malz im Wedding. - Bronzegold, klar. (25.7.2023.)

500ml bottle [as Bartholomäus Festbier, 5.4% abv]. Clear, dark orange, amber colour with average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, off-white head. Mellow malty and floral hoppy aroma, a touch of honey, toffee, butterscotch, watercress. Taste is slightly dry, caramel malty without residual sweetness, floral-herbal hoppy, hints of mint, woodruff, watercress, widely disguised hints of toffee. Minimally oily, watery texture, smooth and dry palate, fine, mildly prickly carbonation. Well hopped, clean - interesting interpretation of the style.

3 August 2018. At Rixx, Bamberg. Cheers to Anke!
As 'Lowenbräu Anna-Festbier'. Pours... into a mug; lasting, unstable, frothy, tan head; some lacing. Aroma of mouldy peach & orange, expired milk or yoghurt, sourdough & yeast, caramel, honey, herbs. It tastes light fruity sour, yoghurty & lactic, some sourdough, and light spicy bitter, a bit herbal; bready back. Dryish, tart, yeasty finish, bit grassy hoppy. Light to medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Weird aroma, but drinkable.

Keg at GBBF. It pours clear yellow - gold with a decent white head. The aroma is soft, sweet, sponge cake, lemon drizzle, slight graininess, muffin and hay. The taste is crisp, dry, bitter, straw, grassy, grain, sponge cake, straw, some booty sting and damp leaves with a drying finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Interesting stuff.

Bottle shared at Lowenbrau in Buttenheim on day 2 of the Bamberg Jolly of January 2014. Pours clearish gold with a foamy white head. The nose holds crispy cereal and hay. Medium sweet flavour with further cereal, bread, light grassy bitterness. Light bodied with average carbonation. Moderately crisp on the finish, with more lightly toasted cereal. Tasty beer.
