Golden Bock

Glissade is a remarkably mellow take on the traditional spring bock. With restrained sweetness, we emphasize subtle malt flavor balanced against delicate aromas of spicy and floral European hops. This complex balance helps Glissade slide across the palate, bracing us against the last cold nights of winter, while its bright golden color turns our thoughts toward spring.

bottle pours gold with a medium white head. Aroma is hay and light pine hops. Flavor is crisp pale malts, some grass and a light citrus hop finish that ends very clean. Good job!

Very light for a bock. Gold color. Lager yeast is in there for sure with barley. Very light hops, dry finish of a European lager, but I didn’t know I was drinking a bock.

Bottle, $1.70 at Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, VA. Pours golden with an inch and a half of head. Smells of sweet grass and honey. Taste is bitter grasses with a decent amount of malts. Blah. Boring.

pours clear golden, white head aroma of pale malts, light caramel and citrus hops. flavor, hops are a little too forward, some mild touch of sweet palate malts. Bitter citrus hops, light spices, leaving an bitter mouthfeel and a thin warming abv.

Bottle. Golden amber beer with a cream colored head. Sweet malt aroma with light mineral notes and light caramel. Sweet malt flavor with caramel, light breadiness, and light mineral. Medium body. Nice balance. Light caramel lingers with light mineral.

Lively, clear golden pour - well-sustained film of a head - nose of pale malts, honey, floral noble hops, toasted grains - the flavor sits somewhere between heller bock and strong pils - it’s a bit lighter than a heller, with slightly less sweetness - it’s got more of the dry maltiness and strong noble hop presence of a pils - a bit of a spicy finish - while it doesn’t really give you what it advertises, it is clean, floral, and refreshing - a decent brew.

I remember the famous but elusive SN Pale Bock, was hoping this would be basically the same beer. Doesn’t seem so. Dull gold colour, but with low carbonation and almost no head. Macroish aroma - some higher alcohols emerge from a surprisingly gluey body. On the palate, this again veers towards some sort of Eastern European strong lager with grain, malt, somewhat cheesy hops, late alcohol and little in the way of smoothness or refinement. Misnomer.

Bottle. Clear golden body. Minimal white head, rapidly diminishing. The aroma is grainy with hints (and hints may be generous) of honey, hay, toasted malt, cereal, grass and dough. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately bitter and lightly sweet. Medium to full body, watery texture and moderately carbonated. Husky tasting from the beginning. The malts are dominant in the flavor as they should be, but they are not all that well defined, even more so in the aroma. A snoozer.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a huge white head. Aroma is dry grassy and mild citrusy. Rather malty flavoured, subdued on the hops flavours although with a nice bitterness showing through. Bitter and dry finish. Overall a good balanced bock.
