A Bourbon Barrel aged Imperial Stout made with freshly roasted Emy J's Coffee. This beer is as complex as it gets. Flavors of vanilla, tannins, and coffee meld together to create a flavor as deep as the ravines of the Peruvian Andes!

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color ale with a dark brown foamy head with light retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of black chocolate notes with some residual sugar notes and some floral coffee notes with some bourbon notes. Taste is also a mix of black chocolate notes with some floral coffee notes, quite a bit of residual sugar with some smooth bourbon notes also perceptible. Body is about average with medium carbonation with subtle alcohol notes also perceptible.

Bottle, vintage 2018. Color: Almost black, beige head. Aroma: Coffee, mocha, vanilla. Taste: Roasted malt,a lot of coffee, mocha, vanilla notes, Bourbon hints. Slightly boozy. Smooth mouthfeel. Moderate to medium sweet, moderate bitter. Bittery palate and pretty strong coffee flavours at finish. Full body, below average carbonation. Very nice coffee Stout.

2018 bottle from Wine Tree East shared at CB. Pours a deep brown to black with a finger of beige head that lingers. Vanilla and tons of coffee on the nose. Some chocolate as it warms. More vanilla, lots of coffee notes. Espresso and chocolate on the palate. Roasty bitterness meshes well with the vanilla and milk chocolate notes. This is really good. --- Beer merged from original tick of Peruvian Morning on 01 Sep 2018 at 00:04 - Score: 8. Original review text: Vanilla and tons of coffee on the nose. Bottle. Used motor oil pour with a thin head and aromas of charcoal and coffee. Maybe a little vanilla. Flavor is pleasant enough for a big coffee imperial. Some cream/vanilla takes some of the edge off. Warming and lovely.

12 ounce bottle into snifter; 2018 vintage, bottled on 3/27/2018. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big nutty dark roast coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, herbal, pepper, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of coffee, dark/roast/bready malt, and bourbon barrels; with great strength. Taste of huge nutty dark roast coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, herbal, pepper, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Light roast/char/herbal bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of nutty dark roast coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, dark/brown bread, coconut, light licorice/dark fruit, herbal, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of coffee, dark/roast/bready malt, and bourbon barrels; with an awesome roasted bitter/sweet and bourbon/oak spiciness balance; with zero acrid flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and lightly slick/sticky/chalky/tannic mouthfeel that is fantastic. Mildly increasing warmth of 8.5%, with minimal barrel booze lingering after the finish. Overall this is an amazing barrel aged coffee stout! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of coffee, dark/roast/bready malt, and bourbon barrels; very smooth and easy to sip on with the mildly bitter/tannic/drying finish. Amazingly rich and complex; with perfect balance of fruity/nutty coffee, bourbon barrels, and malts. Not overly roasty, letting the coffee have a really strong showing. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing style example. Reminds me of KBS a lot, just a bit lighter on the body.
