On draft at Blue Frog’s Local 22 in Chicago. Pours black with a tan head. Flavors of rich chocolate and coffee with some subtle bourbon and oak notes. Yum!

Bottle. Pours dark black, medium brown head, some lacing. Aroma is a wonderful blend of mocha and bourbon, vanilla, and oak. Flavor is not quite there, a bit sour and acidic, light sweet and light bitter. Medium light body.

2013 bottle thanks to Bob. Pours a dark brown with beige head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is nice coffee bean, toffee, oak. Thin mouthfeel with rich malt, raisin, nice coffee bean, light dryness. Very good.

Sample at Kurtkeller 005: Coffee-tastic 01 on 02/08/2014. Pours black with a medium khaki head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of coffee, oak and malt. Medium-bodied with an odd mineral/metallic character that makes me wonder if this bottle is infected. Notes of buttery bourbon, malt and stale coffee. The finish is roasty and metallic with a malt aftertaste. A disappointment overall.

12oz bottle. 2012 vintage. Pours a viscous, nearly opaque black with one ring of beige head. Nose has a lot of vanilla, coffee grounds, brown sugar, molasses, cake icing, a little raisin. Flavor is interesting, a little vinegar, stale coffee, like a cup of Folgers that sat in your fridge for days, lightly sweet. Slightly acetic finish. A little off.

0.355l bottle, 2013 model from trade with FrostyTiger. This is a clear one with small quickly side sticking light beige head, and the body itself is deep dark brown with a little bit of red. It might not look like a million bucks, but the aroma is absolutely fantastic! Lots of sweet vanilla, dark robust chocolate, strong dark chocolate, burned wood and lots of strong espresso. Lovely all the way, and as it gets some temperature it opens up, gets more sweet and roasted. It has a soft to average small prickling carbonation level with a somewhat light, almost thin oily mouthfeel. The taste is not as sweet as the aroma lead me to believe. I get milk chocolate, lots of vanilla extract, wood and some soft leather. The vanilla is definitely not playing the second fiddle here, and the rest of the flavor are more subdued in the background. Did not really pick up to much of the added coffee though. A tasty one. Thanks David! 28.03.2013

Aroma is full of coffee notes along with a background chocolate and roast character. Pervasive bourbon aroma with some nice balanced oak notes. Faint fruitiness is also present but becomes more apparent as it warms. Pours a dark brown but not black with lighter brown highlights in the edges. Medium thick dark tan head that persists nicely. Flavor starts with some nice roast and coffee notes. Mid palate you get a lot of dark chocolate and milk chocolate flavors. Late mid palate you get dark fruit - prune, plum and fig. You also get a lot of bourbon character and light oak notes mid to late palate. Late palate you get a lot more chocolate, light roast, medium light bitterness and medium low alcohol spice. Mouthfeel is medium full to full bodied. Very low astringency and medium alcohol warmth. Very sweet beer but balanced well with the alcohol heat an coffee. Overall the beer is very enjoyable and full of chocolate and coffee with a balanced bourbon barrel note. The word that I keep returning to is "balanced." Bottle shared at Intuition during RBWG 2013. Pours rich brown, clear, with a light, tan cream head. Nice character, roasted malts, moderate coffee, honey sweetness. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish, light roast, some sugary chocolate, moderate bitterness. Nice.

Bottle from Guerde. Pours very dark brown with little head. Aroma is very smooth, strong coffee. Wowser! Med + body. Flavor is rather sweet bourbon, coffee, chocolate, smooth burnt malt and earth. Just excellent. Thanks Andy. A whole bunch!

12oz. dark brown pour. minimal head. Nose contains Loads of espresso bean and chocolate. Taste is very roasty, nice sweet and malt balance. Some hint of fish oil but a great fresh bean taste. It’s a nice beer!
