30 November 2018. Billie's Craft Beer Fest. Cheers to Anke, tderoeck & 77ships! Hazy black with a lasting, thin, frothy, beige head. Aroma of black pepper, soy sauce, vanilla, cream, cinnamon, toast, chocolate sauce, cake, brownie. Taste is medium malty sweet, lots of vanilla & cream, somewhat nutty & chocolatey; light to medium spicy bitter, cinnamon & black pepper. Dry, peppery hoppy finish, quite spicy, burning black pepper & chili, even 'numbing' the warming rum alcohol, lingering fondant, cake & coffee roast. Full body, slick texture, soft to flat carbonation. Intense stuff, spicy but still balanced.

330ml bottle from Good Spirits Co. Thick, dark brown with a fizzy tan head. Boozy Christmas cake aroma, flavour is quite heavy on the rum with plenty of molasses in there too, and the chilli kicking in on the finish

Bittke front Grunting Growler, Glasgow. It pours opaque motor oily black with only just a touch of dark tan head. The aroma is rich, dark roasted malt, bitter - sweet, dark fruits, rum & raisin, cookie dough, warming spice, churros with chocolate sauce and vanilla cake frosting. The taste is initially dry, rich roasted malt, bitter - sweet, slick, oily, cacao, dark chocolate torte. some warming chilli spice, vanilla, cake frosting, dark fruits, dried cherry, cinnamon, rocky road, bit of charred wood and warming alcohol with a warming spice finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth feel. Great depth of flavour and balance. Very moreish. The rum adds some dark fruitiness and spice. Delicious.

Bottle from Lupe Pintos, Edinburgh. Appearance - opaque black and generally having the look of crude oil. Thin, dark crema head. Nose - booze and chocolate, generall liqueur-like. Taste - brown sugar, dark chocolate. Palate - rich and full bodied. Creamy and fairly decent finish despite the high alcohol. Overall - getting plenty of the sugar notes expected from the rum. Thought there might've been more on the wood spice side, but wasn't.
