Boon Millésime 2020 is a delicate traditional fruit beer based on Belgian Schaarbeekse cherries and lambic. 270 grams of cherries per litre create an intense, wine-like and elegant cherry aroma. This together with the accessible alcohol content make it an ideal tasting beer for food pairing or as an apéritif. The Boon Millésime was bottled on 19 October 2021 and is refermented in the bottle. Feel free to let the bottle continue to age for a few years. Cheers!

Pours deep red with a small, pink head. Funky aroma of cattle sheds and horse shit. Funky and tart flavour of cherries and oak casks. Not quite my cup of tea.

2023 version. Pours dark, bit unclear, redpink. Large pinkwhite head. Scent is cherry, sweeter impression. Bit funky (on the fruits, rather than lambicfunk) Taste is sharp, herbal and cherry. Mildly acidic. Very cherry forward. Not my fav...

Bottle. Deep red, big pink head. Lots of cherries, somewhat vinous, funky, cherry pit, oak, sour, juicy, lively carbonation. Great.

750ml (thx, Matt!) @ Sales Force. Appearance: hazy purple with a rose head. Aroma: nice cherries with some sweetness, kompot, a bit of funk, and some vanilla. Taste: dry, lots of cherries, some funk. Overall: pretty good one, typical of Boon.

2020. Purple, with a pale purple head. This has a nice cherry aroma. Dry, lots of cherry, not a bunch of complexity. I like the fruit, but the underlying lambic seems more restrained than I would prefer.

750mL bottle. Pours murky dark red with foamy pinkish head. Aroma has cherries, barnyard funk. Flavour is moderately funky, deep cherries, grape-like tannins. Very good, cherry-heavy lambic; not the most exciting lambic though.

750mL bottle, pours a deep dark cherry red with a medium pink head. Aroma reveals deep cherry pits, moderate funk, some mustiness, and light acidity. Flavour is full of deep cherry piths, dark cherry juice (without much residual sweetness), a touch of funk, and gentle acidity. Lots of deep cherries and cherry pith. Very tasty.

22/VII/24 - 75cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker), shared @ BBQ at Cybu’s, BB: 19/X/41, 2020 vintage (2024-567)

Clear deep ruby red beer, small creamy light pink head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: nice, fruity, quite some cherries, sour impression, fruity, nice! MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: oooh nice, super fruity, lots and lots of cherries, slightly sweet, good acidity, nice! Aftertaste: sourish, very fruity, lovely intense sour cherries, very nice, gentle bitterness, very fruity, some tannins, woody touch, love it! Could’ve done with some more acidity maybe.

2020 bottle. Deep red with a pale pink head. Aroma is not hugely fruity with old laundry and oak before cherries and their stones. That's so in the taste too - the cherries are an accent, albeit a strong one to the underlying lambic. They have that booming richness though (and moderate juicy sourness) so the balance works well. More elegant than deep perhaps, but lovely.
