Salvation. The name of two intricate Belgian-style ales created by us, Vinnie Cilurzo of Russian River Brewing and Adam Avery of Avery Brewing. After becoming friends a few years ago, we realized that we both had a Salvation in our line-ups. Was it going to be a problem? Should one of us relinquish the rights? "Hell no!" we said. In fact, it was quickly decided that we should blend the brews to catch the best qualities of each and create an even more complex libation. In April 2004, in top-secret meeting at Russian River Brewing (well actually it was packed in the pub, and many were looking over our shoulders wondering what the hell was going on), we came up with the perfect blend of the two Salvations. Natalie, Vinnie’s much more significant other, exclaimed, "We should call this Collaboration, not Litigation Ale!" "Perfect!" we shouted. We celebrated deep into the night, (or is it morning?). Fast forward to November 14, 2006. After talking about it for over 2 years we finally decided to pull the trigger and Vinnie flew out to Avery to brew his Salvation exactly as he does in his brewery. This was blended with Avery’s Salvation December 11th, 2006. We hope you enjoy it as much we enjoyed brewing and blending it.

Bottle - Fruit esters and orange. Orange copper with almost no head. Fruity esters, booze and some orange. Nice, but pretty mundane.

Bottled Feb 2014. All the nice spices are there, the Belgian yeast, the candy sugar. Yum. I haven't had it since 2009. Glad it's back.

Tap. Pours reddish brown, tiny off white head, dissipates quick with little lacing. Aroma is light, dark sugars, spices, malty. Flavor follows, fairly spiced, some pepper, medium sweet, zesty bitterness. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel.

Some light florals from Belgian yeast mix with light black current and some citrus. Overall palate is medium range. Pours clear maroon with decent head and lacing. Finishes with light sweetness that sticks around nicely. Alcohol very understated. Tap at Churchkey.

Sample in a flight at Ale Yeah! Pours a dark caramel color, with a big, tan head and lots of lacing. Caramel aromas, with some ripe apples, cloves, and bread. Very sweet flavor, with just a hint of fruity tartness. Medium body, lightly acidic, crisp, and creamy. This is a nice, balanced, and fruity beer.

Smooth, though taste kind of flat. Should be better.

22 oz. bottle marked on label as Batch 6 bottled Jan 2012. Snifter shows a deep amber with lots of conditioned yeast floating around even with a slow canted pour. Nose is complex. Aromas of dried fruit, Belgian sugars, sweet caramel and yeast. Flavors of Belgian yeast and doughy bread, dark candied sugar and again the dried fruit. Decent brew. Respectable Belgian.

15/II/13 - 1Pt. 6Fl. Oz. bottle from Charles Street Liquor (Boston, MA) @ my birthday tasting - BB: n/a (2013-176) Thanks to Thomas and Annelies for the bottle!

Clear amber to red beer, irregular yellowish head, bit stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: very soapy, floral, yeast, ripe fruits, apples, a bit off. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sourish, ripe to overripe fruits, pretty off, bit sweet, honey, bitter hops. Aftertaste: floral, yeast, ripe to overripe fruits, bit sugary. Probably too old?
