Handcrafted at the tiny All Saints Brewery set in a time warp in Stamford using the old manually operated brewing equipment. Finest organically grown barley and wheat are used to create a complex ale which, having undergone primary and secondary fermentation with different yeasts and extended maturation, is taken to Samuel Smith’s small, independent British brewery at Tadcaster. There it is blended with pure organic cherry, strawberry, raspberry or apricot fruit juices and more organic beer to create fruit beers of considerable strength and flavour. The smooth distinctive character of the matured beer serves as the perfect counterpoint to the pure organic fruit juice.

I bought this today on a whim while in the beer store. Pours a clear reddish amber color with a huge fluffy off pink head that persists forever and leaves lots of lace on the way down. Smells of sweet and tart cherries and little else. Taste is sweet with dark cherry fruit a hint of sweet bready malt and then more tart and sweet cherries. Medium level of carbonation, sweet sticky syrupy mouthfeel, medium to thick body. This is a cherry beer, although I’m having trouble finding any of the beer part. Its sweet and sticky and reminds me more of a wine cooler than a beer. But being a lover of all things cherry I did enjoy this beverage.

330 ml bottle, at The Chandos (a Samuel Smith’s pub), London. ABV is 5.1%. Red colour, moderate pale pink head. Strong aroma of preserved cherries / cherry liqueur / cherry chocolates with marzipan. Medium sweet flavour of cherries and almond essence / marzipan. A nice change-of-pace beer, when you are tired of the usual English bitters.

Sweet and well carbonated. Pink color. Cherry flavor and sugar. A simple beer but it is enjoyable, I could even see this over ice. Good palate and easy to drink with the reasonable alcohol, and the sweetness never becomes cloying.

Refrigerated 18.7 oz. bottle poured into a white wine glass. Pours a transparent medium red with highlights of orange and yellow, with medium pink head that dies down quickly. Tight lacing, good carbonation, and medium body. Taste is sweet cherry and medium acidity. Easy to drink and slightly underrated.

Delicious maraschino and cream aroma. Cloudy ochre, thick pinkish head, nice lacing. Sweet cherry flavor with a malt base. Cherry skin in the finish. Somewhat cloying without having an overly syrupy mouthfeel. Neat, but I doubt I’d drink this very often.

550 mL bottle from Whole Foods Market, Charlottesville, VA. Pours a slightly hazy red color with a medium offwhite frothy head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of cherries, with a chemical quality almost reminiscent of urinal cake. The taste is thankfully better, but not by much with cherry pie filling, pale malts, sweet, tart and with a medicinal quality. Medium bodied.

550ml bottle. Poured a reddish-pink body with a pink white head. Smelled like sweet cherries. The taste was smooth, sweet, and full of cherry juice. It wasn’t bad, but I’d hold this one off for a dessert.
