Cask at Prince of Wales, Farnborough. Aroma - a vague hay/yeast. A dark, ruby tinted, brown. Scant beige head. Sweet, with a whisp of bitterness. Smooth mothfeel, a tad light. Malt, chocolate, liqourice. Nice enough.

Why aren't the hipsters going nuts over this? A classic English stout lots of blackcurrants, leather, tar, clotted cream, oil, chocolate.

Marrón muy oscura casi negra. Un dedo de espuma beige. Aroma a humo, algo rancio al principio. Cuerpo medio algo acuosa. Sabor muy agradable, primero ahumada, pronto suave caramelo de toffe, para acabar seca con un postgusto amargo duradero.

Cask @ Glue Pot, Swindon. A convincing dark brown with a small tan head. Translucent. Oak, porridge and roasted malt dominate the nose. Taste is largely malt, very sweet with a slight sourness like freshly picked blackberries. Balanced sweet milky coffee aftertaste. Gentle, creamy mouthfeel. A cracker of a stout, and likely the best offering from Hop Back.

Cask at the Kingston Arms, Cambridge on 22 November 2013. Poured a very dark brown, near black, with a dense off white head. Aroma of dark chocolate, roast malt and light grassy hop. Strong coffee flavours initially with notes of lactose and light peat. Nice full mouth feel. Finish was burnt malt, vanilla and some dark fruit. Good cask stout.
