The Meerts Tilquin series was made by fermenting fruit that had already been used once. Pinot Gris grapes were fermented for a period of 4 months in a blend of 80% 1 year old Meerts and 20% of a blend of different 2 year old lambics. Meerts (or March Beer) is a low strength lambic, which was originally produced with the weaker wort obtained from the rinsing of the grains. Unfiltered and unpasteurized, they are refermented in the bottle.

375 c&c from Tavour. Pours translucent gold with a transient white head. Aroma of sourish white grapes. Funk for sure. Med body. Moderately sour. Definitely funky. More pedio than Brett. Very, very dry. White grapes. Very very good.

Poured from 375mL bottle (bb 10/06/2027). Clear blond gold with minimal white head. Mild Riesling notes with soft funky tartness, decent. Generally prefer the red grape varietals over the white grape varietal meerts beers.

Bottle. Hazy yellow golden. Bright funk, subtle grape. The Riesling is there but the meerts is more prominent. Maybe less funky than last year? Love it.
