Tinted ruby-black, Cherry Stout gains its signature tartness from 100% Montmorency cherries grown in Michigan's Traverse City region.

Rather than doubling up on sweetness, this tart cherry varietal serves as a counterpoint to the warm, dark chocolate notes from the malt bill. Lightly hopped for balance, this stout is one of the cornerstones of our stout portfolio.

Bottle from EithCubes - Thanks! Pours a dark brown with a modest tan head. Nose is heavy with roast and coffee, hints of chocolate and cherries. Taste becomes mellower with the roasted malt and coffee, the sensation of chocolate covered cherries begins to take over. Nice example of the fruit enhanced stout, but is lighter bodied than I’d hoped for. Perhaps it could be stouter?

Bottle. Deep dark chocolate, sharp coffee and black cherry aroma. Black-brown color with small tan head. Tart cherry primarily with lesser flavor of chocolate malt and burnt coffee. Tartness is a stark contrast to the smooth malt flavor and overpowers it somewhat.

Poured a syrupy looking flat black with a thin, sticky brown head. Smells of fruit, apples, pears and cherries with none of the roasted malt flavor you’d expect. Really doesn’t taste like beer at all. The sweet cherry and fruit flavor overwhelms any other subtle flavors. The finish brings a touch of the roasted malt combined with the sourness of the cherries. Even if you don’t like beer, you’re likely going to like this. Stout drinkers might be disappointed, but anyone looking for a quality niche beer has found it.

Gorgeous on the pour, dark dark brown with red highlights...looks silky....brown sugar foam dissipates into just an essence on the edge of the glass...rich mocha smell, baking chocolate, not overwhelming with the aroma....typical stout aromas as well...tart tart, uh tart...cherry definite!....silky texture, cherry said get out of the way stout, just a touch of baking chocolate shows through on the taste...."One of the most unusual stouts I’ve ever had, me likey!"

Bottle. I smelled a bit of cherry, but it mostly was a great roasty aroma. When I finally took a sip, the cherry hit me, and it was good. I am not sure if I could drink this often, but it had a nice tart, sour flavor, and the alcohol was masked pretty decently for a beer at 8.5%

Bottle Pours a dark redish black. No, seriously, it;s red-black. Nice full tan head and blocky lacing. Aroma is a sweet roasted chocolately with cherries. A tad mediciney but nice combination. Flavor is sweet thick, and slightly cherry-ey. A bit of soy and woody malt flavors. Very low hops and an unfiltered a bit chalky feel at the end. A mild stout for sure, and the cherry is about right. Nice. Thanks to BuckeyeBoy for sharing this one.

12oz bottle Pours out a very very dark red almost black. Topped with a tan head with some red in it. Aroma of a porter with some cherry. The tast is about the same. Pretty good. Thanks Buckybeer for this one.

Bottle from TPaliga; Nose of chocolate covered cherries and a cup of coffee; Opaque black with a medium reddish tan head; chocolate flavor with some cherry. Is this anything like say a Sam Adams Cherry Wheat, I think not! Should be some kind of stout!
