Bottle from MoritzF. Sugary sweet raisinny aroma and flavor, but the sweetness doesn’t hide the alcohol. Molasses and chocolate. Not too thick, just a bit more than medium bodied. Lack of balance, once again.

A deep dark with a thick brown head. In aroma, sweet dark fruits with light sweaty notes, and a bit of oxidation. In mouth, a sweet maple malt, lightly woodsy, with a light hopping, a bit of treacle, light signs of age but still decent. Shared with GRM. BB 15-11-10.

Bottle: Poured a clear deep brown color bock with a medium bubbly head with minimal retention and not much lacing. Aroma of medium toffee malt with notes of caramel. Taste is also dominated by warm toffee notes with some caramel malt also discernible. Body is a bit thin for style with low carbonation and no alcohol was apparent. Lacking complexity and ester and body is too thin for style.

The bottle looks good, a little bit complex. The beer in the glass is very dark, malty and sweet aroma. The beer starts strong, but not as strong as exspected. Very oily. A modest finish, nothing special. Nevertheless a very good doppelbock.
