Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from Sainsbury’s. Pours black-brown with a frothy, khaki topping. Medium sweet flavour with sturdy roast, bitter ash, scorched earth, burnt caramel, a little sugary black coffee. Light bodied with average carbonation. Some assertive bitterness in the finish, while at the same time also some sugary dark malts, yet not in balance. Some fun characteristics in here but not entirely cohesive.

500ml bottle from Tesco, Aberystwyth. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a mostly lasting frothy off-white head. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a smooth, roasty, sweet caramel, chocolate, coffee, lactose, light liquorice bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

tan head, very dark brown A - milky coffee/cappuccino with extra caramel/vanilla added T - similar to aroma, it got better as it warmed up a bit. When cold there was maybe a bit too much toffee/caramel for my liking, but as it warmed the bitternes seemed to come though a bit more and make it slightly less cloying quite highly carbonated for a stout

Ultramørkebrun/svart. Middels høyt luftig skum med litt farge. Daler sakte. Kraftig & god kaffearoma. Hint av lakris. Myk munnfølelse. Smaken karamell - men kaffen dominerer. Litt tørr avslutning. Bra - menlitt uvariert.

500 ml bottle, at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 5.0%. Dark brown to black colour, large off-white to beige head. Strong aroma of coffee, roast malts, caramel and toffee. Smooth mouthfeel. The flavour has notes of roast malts and coffee, also caramel, treacle and toffee, but not too sweet. Moderate bittering hops in the finish.

500ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Steady beige head leaving clingy lacing on the glass, black body with a deep ruby shade. A fragrant smell of toffee and earthy malts. Well balanced malt-driven taste of toffee and chocolate with a backdrop of coffee towards a mid-sweet, nicely roasted, drying close. Fine bodied. Good drinking on a Sunday afternoon. 500ml Bottle from Sainsburys. Pours near black with a thick, creamy, off-white head, that left large amounts of lacing down the glass. Aroma of rich coffee, chocolate fondant and a trace of vanilla. Flavour had some more sweetness upfront, before drying coffee notes kicked in leading to a lingering and rich finish. Great appearance and depth of character - the quality of Badger's bottled bears has vastly improved in recent years, I really enjoyed this one.
