7-3-7-3-14 On tap @ Pingvinen, Bergen. Pours hazy dark yellow, with a creamy head. Aroma is citrusy hops with orange peel, tangerines and grapefruit, as well as malts with cereals and toffee. Medium to full body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is piney hops with citrusy notes of orange peel, tangerines and grapefruit, as well as malts with cereals and heathery minerals. Crisp, dry finish.

330ml can bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Durable white head, misty golden body, spotty lacing. Inviting citrus aromas with a floral touch. Mid-sweet citrus fruity flavours, mandarin and orange fruits, slightly perfumed. Very smooth hop fruity finish, distant note of mid-dry bitterness. Pretty decent with our Yuletide food. (Tromsø, 30.12.2023).

Pours pale golden with a haze. Initial ok head, but it quickly collapses. Intense aroma of oranges and mandarines from the very moment the can was opened, which comes from the addition of oils from these two citrus fruits. There also appear to be bitter parts of the citrus peels in there, for it has a citrus-like bitterness that I don't think comes from hops, and it is more bitter than the 40 IBU listed on the label. I suppose this use of oils is ok, but it makes the beer one-dimentional, because there is very little room left for anything else than citrus oils. I suppose it is an alternative to using insane amounts of citrusy aroma-hops, but to me it does not taste right. It has a little astringent character. In addition there is a slightly oily and mouth-coating character to the beer. And the oils probably killed the head. On the up-side: this beer has a best-before date of 24 months after brewing. I do understand that this is attractive to brewers, since IPAs typically have much shorter shelf-life, but still ... This does not rival "true" IPAs in quality. When the oils more or less left the almost empty glass, the beer is rather anonymous and has a slightly dusty aroma to it.

0,33 boks fra julenissens verksted i Verksgata, hjemme: nesten helt klar gylden med ok skum. Julens appelsiner, mandariner og clementiner sammen med litt beske urter og furunål. Skarp i smaken. Enkel og grei, slik som undertegnede.

Can. A faintly hazy pale-ish golden colored beer with a white head. The aroma is citrusy, with orange dominating, piney and very lightly malted. It’s medium to full-bodied and pleasantly carbonated, with a good bitterness. Piney, orangey and lightly grapefruity flavor with some light maltyness in the back. A bit harsh on the hops, but I like it. 231125
