We don’t quite know what it is, but there’s just something about our pale ales. Just floating above that 5% mark, strong enough to maintain the mouthfeel of our bigger beers, but sessionable enough to smash a pint of. Haunted by These Dreams takes this theory and runs with it with aplomb – a bonafide smasher when we first brewed it last year, Haunted makes a welcome return to our keg lineup with a thoroughly 2022 twist. Featuring a trio of bonafide Polly’s favourite hop varietals in Simcoe, Galaxy and Columbus, this beer bursts with the usual Polly’s checklist – tropical, juicy vibes from Simcoe and Galaxy, but balanced out with a grassy bitterness from Columbus.

Can. Hazy orange gold beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. A fairly smooth palate, mildly dry, decent fine minerally carbonation on the back end. Light smooth clean malt base that is about the right sweetness for this brew. Modern Simcoe slightly bruised pineapple is immediately obvious, some clematine here as well, broad spectrum Galaxy fruity goodness brings up the rear. Columbus? Well there was a day when that filthy monster would let you know it was here whether you liked it or not. These days it seems quite tame and here, well for me, anonymous. Light finish. Really nice juicy hop fruity pale ale, goes down easy.

Can from Sainsbury's Supermarket, Salford. Cloudy light golden with a frothy head. Expels a blandish citrus character, although its nose is a little more stated in its citric strength.

Can from Sainsburys Streatham at home in London 12/08/2024 Tangy fruity citrus notes of clementine and grapefruit, has abit of a tangy tart sourish edge (not sure if intentional) medium to light body, goes from a tart into almost cloying sweet fruity finish, abit odd - not getting on well with this.

440ml can. Pours a misty gold, large white head. Slight metallic bitter off notes to this. Light yoghurty exotic hints. Finished very dry. Full hop character is not forthcoming. Unfortunate miss from Polly's.
