Once, a group of brewers decided to rest in a honeyberry patch. Slumbering among aromas of fresh fruit, they all dreamed the same dream. In it, they brewed a sour golden ale aged for four months with ripe honeyberries, full of notes of red grape, blackberry, and tart cherry. When they awoke, the beer was sitting right beside them. What else could they do but toast to their good fortune, rest in the shade for a bit longer, and sip the beer of their dreams?

12.7 oz corked and caged bottle, 2022 vintage. Aroma is berries, funky, woody, Brett (fleeting Band-Aid). Pours dark purple with a two finger pink crackly sudsy head that falls into a thick cap of foam after a minute. Taste is highly sour (8/10) and a little savory with flavors of berries, wood, and light funk.

Sampled at Churchkey's Allagash event. Sample is a dark amber with some brown head. Nose has herbs, sweet tarts, big Fantome vibes. Some dried herbs. Super high, almost distracting level of carb. Some cherry, some herbs, lots of raspberry seltzer. Dry. Tart. 8 7 7 6 7

Light berry and some lemon. Ruby red pour with some head. Tart finish. Body is a little lighter than I'd hope for a good Allagash. Bottle pour at Churchkey.

Aromas are a nice blend of something like cherries and grapes, yeast, vinegar. Flavors lose a lot of that becoming mostly tart with a bit of yeast and a hint of some fruit in back.

Bottle shared by ClarkVV--thanks, Clark. A turbid magenta-red (cranberry juice color) with off-white ring of head. Aroma is tart grape, cherry, blackberry. Taste mirrors aroma. Smooth, thin, average-to-lively carbonation. Not a favorite style of mine but well made.

375mL bottled Nov '22, drunk 11/11/23. Cork violently shoots off, yet it doesn't gush...strange. blood red to violet. Small, pinkish head quickly to ring. Juicy berry acidity. Like rich cranberry. Almost currant-like, or elderberry. That sorta thing. Maybe a touch lacking on the beer character, or it just sorta overlaps with the fruit acidity? Very, very, very carbonated with tart fruits leaving berry like character. Pepper, stone fruit, cranberry, blueberry notes with mild Brett and lactic acidity. Lightly malty with good attenuation. Not quite enough beer character though the honeysuckle is done well.

375 ml bottle shared by ClarkVV. TY! Nice deep, red color. Aroma is oak, grape, boysenberry-ish. I don’t know what the hell a honeyberry is but… wow! Sweet, tart and funky. Tartness overrides the berry sweetness. Pretty nice.
