Respire - a pint with purpose. Atop a sweet, velvety malt base are layers of Citra and Chinook, bringing huge tropical and citrus notes to this smooth, refreshing ale. At just 4%, this beer is exactly what you want to be carefully carrying out to the pub garden, before promptly rushing back for another. But that's not even the half of it. Not only a cracking pint, Respire is completely and officially carbon neutral. At Black Sheep, we are committed to becoming a sustainability-focused business, and it all starts with Respire.

Bottle from Waitrose. Pours almost clear golden colour with a large fluffy white head. Aromas of citrus, floral and biscuits. Taste has notes of fruit salad sweets, more citrusy grapefruit, floral and biscuits, some added caramel with a citrus hoppy finish. Medium body, fairly low carbonation and smooth slightly oily mouthfeel. Very decent with good flavour and decent body for the low abv.

Tastes a bit like ghost ship but that's not a bad thing. More soft maltiness than many ipa's but that's how an IPA from blacksheep should be.
A - malty bready light tropical citrus piney resin
F - caramel, bread, similar to aroma hops dont spring out but are nicely balanced with the malt

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from Waitrose. Pours clear gold with a small, frothy white head. Lightly sweet with soft tangerine rind notes, bready malts, some piney-grassy bitterness. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Semi-sweet finish, bit more pine and citrus. Easygoing and drinkable.

[50cl bottle from Waitrose, Bracknell.] A bright pale amber pour with no head and gentle carbonation; malty aroma with a little citrus; sharp herbal bitterness with some nettle and burdock and some caramel malts; then more assertive herbal hops to finish. A pleasant bitter.

Cask @ The Albert, Llandudno. Clear golden with a creamy head. Hoppy brew with a light bitterness and some hints of tropical fruit behind this.

Handpull cask at the Three-Legged Mare, York. Light gold and clear as a bell with a film of off-white head on top. Melon, grapefruit and butter (not in a diacetyl way but pure, fresh, cold butter) in the aroma. Sweet taste, pink grapefruit, agave syrup and a touch of banana leaf. The flavours clock off early and there’s only bettering hop in the finish. Watery body, soft carbonation. Starts off incredible and ends less so, but it’s a decent drink for a worthy cause.
