Bottle shared at chriso’s May 2014 tasting - London. Pours clear brown with a creamy tan head. The nose has semi-dark malts, burnt toast. Sweet flavor, with earthy bitterness and further well toasted malts. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Somewhat bland on the finish, more toasty bread, light dirt, a bit of chocolate. OK.

Cask at the King’s Head, Ravenstonedale. A deep mahogany, almost black, colour with a tight cream head; soft, smooth, malty body with some chocolate and red fruit; and a dry finish with some coffee grounds. A pleasant stout, but perhaps a touch too thin.

500ml Bottle, from Beers of Europe: opened at home on 2nd June 2014. Poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard just for me. Deep, dark brown with a ruby hue, the head a full, rich foam of tanned bubbles. Good smooth, chocolate nose with mild coffee notes in the background. The taste follows closely with again chocolate flavours leading the way, the coffee undertone or two keeps the beer semi-sweet/semi-bitter in the mouth. Medium bodied for a Stout, could have been richer, creamier and deeper, but I liked it how it was.

Bottle from Bottle Stop, Enniskillen [160614] BBE 03/02/15
Black, ruby light through on the edges, big beige fluffy head, good lacing
Aroma of very soft roasted malts, slight dark chocolate, little on nose
Taste of soft dark malts, mellow roast, soft bitter dark chocolate, touch of coffee roast, slight dark toffee, flavour is ok but bit too light
Palate - soft carb, thin to medium body, quite smooth. soft bitter. Finish has some more roasted malts, fairly dry, soft bitter linger.
Overall - Fairly dull stout, not full bodied at all
