"So what's going on ere' then?" asks the elf. "Black Pale Ale makes no sense at all!"
"We agree completely" said the brewer, "but what else do you call a bottle - fermented black ale that tastes like american pale ale if you close your eyes?"
Ere's to your elf!

Scopey 10K Celebrations in deepest Croydonia. Clear deep amber beer, tidy cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry, modest fine carbonation. Thin malts, touch of dark chocolate. Mild pine and bitterness. Dry finish. A bit wishy washy.

Bottle shared during the Scopey 10k - thanks to Kenneth. Pours brown with a frothy khaki head. Pretty bland on the nose, some toasty bread, earth. Light sweet flavor, some earth, burnt toast, faint ash. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly bitter on the finish, more burnt toast, toasted leaves. Impressively bland.

Taste comprises earthy berry, light charr, spice, tangy fruit, brown bread, biscuit. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light earthy hop bitterness. Mediocre.

Bottle thanks to Kenny. It pours clear dark ruby with a decent beige head. The nose is sweet, juicy, jammy berry, fruit compote and fruit cake. The taste is quite sweet, light bitter, cardboard, rivita, toasty, light peppercorn and some sweet dark berries with a short, dry finish. A bit light in the body department and moderate carbonation. One-dimensional and a bit sweet. Not for me.
