This is a modern brown ale - the only one in a category that we invented to bring traditional brown ale into the 21st century. The beer retains it's malty character, but with plenty of classic english hop varieties to lift the flavour and give it freshness.

500ml bottle on 7th Sep 2016 at the monthly Shrewsbury tasting in Chez Sophie. Red hue to the amber body, full off-white head. Aroma hinted at toffee and berries, the taste malty and fairly sweet, again with toffee and berries coming through flavour wise: some chocolate notes appeared late on, my sweet tooth liked it.

500ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Sep 16, courtesy of blackhaddock. Many thanks! Pours clear amber, frothy off-white head that thins out. Aroma brings cocoa and a light sweetness, some red berries. Taste is toffee, berries, yeast, chocolate, finish brings forth a desert of dark brown ale malts and faggy ash. Complex, interesting but a bit messy.

Kirkas, kuparinruskea olut runsaalla ja reilusti pitsiä jättävällä vaaleanbeigellä vaahdolla. Makean maltainen, leipäinen ja pähkinäinen tuoksu. Maku makean maltainen, leipäinen ja kevyesti katkera. Jälkimaku hienoisesti katkera. Ihan toimiva yhdistelmä. Keskitäyteläinen.

Bottle from Millets Farm, Frilford, near Abingdon. Clear chestnut with a thick beige head and a light but prickly fizz. LOADS of malt, really malty. Bittersweet with earth and custard creams and more malt. Really like the malt; unfortunately it’s all rather let down by a metallic finish.

50cl bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. A golden amber pour with a thin and fading white head; sweet caramel malt aroma; big sweet caramel malt taste with a trace of nuts; and a dry nutty finish with lingering caramel. No hamsters in sight.
