Hazy pale amber. No head. The aroma definitely carries that sort of leathery gueuze note, with some fruity note, and a lot of barrel. On the palate, it's soft, less leathery than the aroma, but the vinous notes are punchier. Medium body. Some residual sweetness, and seems fairly tannic. There's a fair bit going on here - a good lambic to study.

750mL bottle, pours a hazy bright orange with a small white head. Aroma has plenty of red wine barrels, barnyard funk, and some tannins. Flavour has a sort of yogurty, lacto-y palate, with moderate funk, very gentle acidity, light floral/rose character, and a touch of wood. A bit thicker on the palate than most gueuzes and definitely less complex. It’s good but not up there with the elite gueuzes.

Poured from 750mL bottle (bottled Jan 2024). Hazed gold with small white head. Feint vinous and feint yogurt notes, but otherwise a decent geueze with light funk.

750mL bottle. Pours murky light gold with a small white head. Mildew, some leather, slightly floral on the nose. Flavour has a lot of wood, some mildewy notes, floral accents. There's something quite chewy about it. It's good, but not quite hitting the level of the great gueuzes.

750ml at D'en Belge. It pours crystal clear blonde with a lively, fizzy white head. The aroma is sweaty and musty, funky, barnyard, gooseberry, lemon rinse, deep funk, piss, damp grass, weedy and herbal. The taste is crisp, drying, snappy, crunchy, puckering sourness, gooseberry, lemon - lime, barnyard, vinous, straw, damp hay, minerality, chalky, dry oak, restrained acidity, dull alcohol, vinous and puckering. Firm dry finish. Medium body and moderate+ spritzy carbonation. Reminds me of No on.

Bottled Jan 2024. Orange body, with a big, white head. Aroma of barrel, stone fruits, wine, moderate funk, some straw, slight almond. Tastes similar. Medium mouthfeel, with an average carbonation. Finishes smooth, wooden, fruity, a bit funky. Lovely, characterful Geuze, fruity, wooden and very well balanced. If there's anything I'm missing it's a bit more rustic funk notes. Great stuff nonetheless. Score: 8 / 4 / 8 / 4 / 16

28/VII/24 - 75cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker), shared @ Ardennes Holiday, BB: +5Y, bottled: I/2024, Barolo Barrel Aged (2024-624)

Pretty cloudy orange beer, small aery irregular white head, a little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: nice, pretty fruity, oranges, orange peel, a bit lemony, a bit oxidized, a little funky. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: nice, very mellow lambic taste, fruity, citrus notes, peaches and apricots. Aftertaste: lovely, citrus, malic acid, juicy, a bit woody, very nice!

Medium, rather stable ochre-tinted head over fully hazy ochre-orange beer. Sharpish lactic acid/lemon/horseblanket nose. Curry-like aroma, immortelles. In the taste there is something (vaguely) vinour, not a usual gueuze characteristic at all - the Barolo foeder talking. Relatively mild lactic acid. Ever so slight diary-buttermilk, gooseberry, lemonpeel, bit moldy, getting earthy warming up. Rather sharp, very good carbonation, wheatslick, mild acidburn. Very good gueuze. The foeders also contribute to the overall impession.
