And here is our second attempt at an ultra-light beer, the PETIT BOULBA! The story behind the name is amusing: Brewing in our very first brewery in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw was entirely manual and really exhausting. For lunch, we dreamed of a light and flavorful table beer to quench our thirst... One day, Bernard had the idea to mix a Taras Boulba with an equal amount of sparkling water to make a "small beer". A super refreshing beer that wouldn’t prevent us from getting back to work in full shape! And we decided to call it the "Petit Boulba"...
We reused the name as a reminder of the early days, but of course we made the beer according to a specific recipe. Petit Boulba is a blond beer with only 2.8% alcohol, with a blonde and cloudy appearance due to the use of wheat and oats. Its aroma is very floral, with notes of fresh cereals. On the palate, these aromas develop further and blend with notes of white fruits and fine herbal touches. Petit Boulba is slightly bitter and has a very dry and super refreshing finish

Can at home, from HOTM online 11/08/24. Moderate haze on a washed out lemon yellow pour topped with a white head. Nose is orange zest, lemon rind, grass, citric tinged straw, light breads. Taste comprises lemon rind, herb, faint mineral bite, grass, tangerine. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spiked with mellow grassy hop bitterness. Tidy table beer for the meagre ABV.

Bottle from HoTM. It pours hazy lemon yellow with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is fresh, fragrant, zingy, zesty, bright citrus, lemon, lime, grapefruit, straw, grass and soft dougy white bread. . The taste is crispy, dry, snappy, firm, decent bitter which lingers, pithy, zesty, bitter lemon, lime, grassy, floral accents, crackery malt and white bread with a lingering drying, bitter and pithy lime finish. Light body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Super crushable and flavourful. Nice one.

Bottle from Against The Grain. Hazy golden body with a white head. Lively carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of grass, lime and minerals. Flavour of lemon and grain. Thin to medium body with a smooth texture. Light fizz. It’s fine but a bit boring.

Pours very unclear, milky yellow. Medium sized white head. Scent is very bright, citrussy, grapefruit. Taste is sharp, dry , bitter, citrus, green (underripe) fruityness, lime, grapefruit. Mild malty back, but the bitterness and aroma do dominate, in a pleasant way. Medium carbo, sharp body (goes hand in hand with the dryness and bitterness). Not bad at all ! I don't get the magic I had with Crushable de Table, but again at this low ABV , its pleasurefull for sure!
