One of our favourite hop varietals that resonates with us and never disappoints is Hallertau Blanc. With a white wine character, and confusingly fruity AND floral notes, it offers a complex nose and flavour that is typically achieved through hop combinations. While grown in the Hallertau region, it is a far cry from its noble namesake.

Amber, bright. Acetic, vinous. Woody and tannic. The grapes are fairly subtle here.

On tap at the brewery. Pours clear pale gold with a white head. Earthy yeast, some damp wool, and some acidity on the nose. Flavour has earthy yeast, lemon acidity, and tons of acetone. The acetone is really hard to get past.

1/III/25 - 1Pt. can @ Belgian Beer Geek Gathering (2025 Winter/Spring edition), BB: n/a (2025-198) Thanks to nathanvc for sharing the can!
Pretty clear orange blond beer, small creamy irregular unstable head, non adhesive. Aroma: funky, wild, herbal, more funky, saison yeast, some infection. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: very sour start, lemony, dry, funky, hint of vinegar. Aftertaste: quite acidic still, with a fruity touch, but not much of that Hallertau Blanc is still remaining here…

Murky amber color. Beautiful Sauvignon blanc, apricot and citrus notes. Fairly tart, good depth. Refreshing. The hop character shines on the palate but not remotely bitter
