On tap at Håndverksølfestivalen. A black beer topped by a finger-thick tan head leaving some lacing. The aroma has a light boozy touch, some licorice and dark chocolate cake, along with roasted malts and a nice coffee addition. It's full-bodied and warming on the palate, rather sweet, with a touch of tannin. A bit too much tannins actually. Caramel sauce, roasted malts, coffee, some licorice, wood and whiskey, and a hint of lactose sweetness. Lasting finish with sweetness, coffee, roasted malts, some booze and wood. A delicious beer indeed, tasteful, sweet and moreish. 190608

330 ml bottle, vintage 2019, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 11.0%. Matured in whisky barrels. Pitch black colour, small but lasting tan head. Aroma of roast malts, whisky and oak, hints of lactose and vanilla. Very sweet flavour (too much lactose), with the same elements, also notes of chocolate and decent bittering hops.

Bottle @ Patricks. Clear dark amber body with a nice, dense, lasing beige head. Aroma has mild roasted malt, hint of coffee, wood and some warming alcohol. Flavor is super smooth, medium sweet, mild roasted malt, coffee, dry fruit , wood, hint of vanilla, medium sweet milk chokolate and warming alcohol. Fine body and loooong lasting aftertaste. Very nice and smooth sipper, the lactose part is not exaggerated, it just makes a very nice balance to alcohol and bitterness. Rich in flavor with enough complexity to make a mess, but made with a brilliant balance close to pefection. A little bit more bitterness would have madet this perfect.
