Never very exciting, but when looked after it's a solid old school bitter - dark amber, near brown in colour, with a frothy white head and a semi-floral grainy malt aroma. Smooth and light bodied, it's sweetish fruit malt with subtle floral bitterness in the finish.

Cask at the Chiltern Taps, Wycombe. Pump clip was selling this as Brewdolph made by The Park Brewery. However, investigation reveals that this is apparently just a rebadge of Banks's Amber. So first off I'd like to send a load of Christmas humbug to the Scrooges at both Banks and their paymasters at Marston's both for the lazy re-badging, and for the blatant theft of another existing brewer's name. I mean, how hard is it to knock up a new crap beer for Christmas? Every other regional brewery manages it. Anyway, as I hadn't had Banks Amber at least it was still a new rate. So; it's amber (obviously) in colour with a thin white head. It's sweetish, with a hint of caramel, a hint of orange and a mild dirty bitterness in the finish. It's bland and dull. And I'm knocking a further point off an already low score for the whole re-badging fiasco. Take that and stick it up your money-grabbing arses, Banks!

Cask at the Kings Arms. Light amber with small creamy head. Malty aroma, caramel, toffee. Taste brings more brown bread flavors, malty, caramel, smooth. Finishes with a pinch of dry bitterness.

Cask @ The Plummet Line Hotel, Halifax. Copper with an amber glow and a creamy head. Light textured with berry-sweet flavours throughout that are very pronounced in its nose.

Tried it at a plastic pub attached to a premier inn. Quite a fruity taste with caramel notes. Tastes watery, not awful.

Cask handpull at The Pheasant Ashford. Can’t believe I have never rated this. Clear pale amber lasting cream head thanks to the sparkler. Typical session bitter. Some malt some hop good condition. Drinkable if not terribly exciting but also decent enough to be enjoyed. Ok
