330 ml red waxed bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 11.5%. Pitch black colour, large to moderate beige head. Aroma of roast malts, molasses, brown sugar, oak and cognac, hints of liquorice, vanilla and chocolate. Sweet flavour with the same elements as the aroma, moderate bittering hops.

330 ml bottle. Murky black with a stable creamy head. Earthy and turfy notes, robusta coffee, ashes, cigar, single malt, burnt sugar, dry grapefruit peel, bitter herbs. Rather bitter with some sweetness, but still well balanced. Full bodied, slick texture, soft to lively carbonated, dry bitter finish. Very complex, balanced but a bit on the harsh side, but still great!

Bottle (10/7/19) pour from Julio's Liquors. Appearance is opaque black with nice sparkle at the edges of the glass, 2-finger light brown foamy head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is strong, earthy roasted malt, mild nuts, alcohol. Taste is roasted earthy malts, mild dark fruit, hint of dark chocolate and faint booze. Mouthfeel is light side of light-to-medium bodied with smooth, thin texture, soft carbonation, strong, pleasant alcohol warmth, and bittersweet finish. Overall, the base is OK but not stellar for the style (and weirdly deficient vs. straight Oo) and the barrel is almost non-existent. A bit thin. Not bad but a big letdown given the ratings (and the price!).

33cl Fles van Vonk. Zwarte kleur, dunne beige kraag. Zoet, rozijntjes, rum, cognac, oxidatie, wat geroosterde mout, chocolade, stroop, hout, eik, meer cognac. Volle body. Veel geur en smaak, complex maar schiet nergens uit de bocht. Wat een kneiter van een dessertbier.

bottle from hopt online shop. black, brown head. the head does not last long, which i find normal in barelled beer. roasted malts and cognac in the aroma. aroma is not *that* intense, but quite deep anyways. flavor is roasted malts, coffee, brown sugar, cola nuts, cognaq. the palate / moutfeel is pretty strange in this one, reminds me a bit about very bubbly belgian quad's - sort of bubble-up-in-your-mouth. ishness. strange.. a pretty solid imperial stout with good notes from the booze, the bubbles distract a bit, the flavors are almost too intersting with notes of cola nuts being the most weird in there. Still, pretty tasty brew, especially if you are not looking for something straight and tight.

Black beer, thick light brown head. Smells.of malt, dried fruit, spirits. Flavours of toasty malt, chocolate, coffee, a little liquorice, dried fruit, brown sugar and the cognac, which gives this a boozy warmth too. Rich and extremely tasty. I love this.

Foamy tan head left a tight cover on a dark brown still body. Brandy, malt & raisin aroma. Medium to full bodied, smooth with a tickle on the back. Malt, brandy, raisin, Christmas cake, chocolate, port & demerara tastes with a long boozy finish. What an outstanding beer!
