9 June 2024. Can at The Hanging Bat, Edinburgh. Shared with the lovely Anke!
Hazy brown, stable, foamy, tan head. Aroma of brown sugar, dried fig, date, red apple, almond, vanilla, brown rum, caramel, green tea. Taste has sweetish fig, raisin & red apple in a brown-sugary, caramelly and almondy malt body with subtle herbal & toasted-nutty notes. Herbal hops in the finish, some bitter rusk & tea leaves providing balance, lingering dried fruits and warming brown rum-like alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Lacks the body of most BA beers to really pack a punch, but thoroughly enjoyable.

Panda at home, thanks to Kenny, 16/12/23. Deep chestnut brown with a light beige cap that thins edgework. Nose is vinous, dried fruit rinds, spice, raisins, prunes, oak. Taste comprises dried red berries, sultanas, prunes, light herb, modest rum, toffee. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close. It's okay but feels a little stuck in 3rd gear and lacking both body and barrel.

Can. Clear deep red amber beer, good bubbly tan head. Palate is light, smooth and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Light smooth malts, thin caramel. A brief burst of red berries before quite the estery mid. Back end is sweet but thin vanilla oak with a touch of raw wood. Rum comes through late on, quite thin but tasty enough and pretty fruity, touches of crystallised fruits and berries. Quite a light and dry finish. Ha! Doesn't matter how many thousands of beers you drink there is always going to be one round the corner that makes you scratch your head and wonder. All sorts going on here and I normally like complexity but this is a bit thin and dry. Yeah I like it. I think!

Can from the Caledonian Craft Beer Merchant Dunfermline. It pours clear deep red - brown with handsome yellow - tan head. The aroma is intoxicating & heady notes of rum, dark fruits, dried fruits, raisin, sultana, toasted brown sugars, rum soaked oak, toasted brown bread, vanilla and splash of cola. The taste is beautiful.... bitter - sweet, deep maltage, toasted brown bread, touch of umami, fruit cake, cinnamon bun, sticky bun, big rum hit, rum soaked oak, warming booze, raisin, sultana, dates, candied citrus, toasted nut, cola and vanilla with a tannic, dry rum soaked oak finish. Medium - fulsome body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Lovely base beer beer and big character intertwined. Strikes a really nice bitter - sweet balance. Good depth and someone great drinkability. Lovely.

Can from Lupe Pintos. Hazy amber/brown body with a beige head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of rum, brown sugar and cranberry. Flavour of rum, caramel and pomegranate. Medium body with a slick mouthfeel. Soft fizz. A heady, delicious, unique beer - and well priced too. It’s heavy on the rum influence, but I’m not complaining.

Clear, dark Amber beer, thick off white head. Smells.of druit fruit, malt and rum. Flavour follows that up. The rum barrel plays a big part here. Maybe a little too much. But there's dried fruit, caramel and malt in here too. It's a big one, and definitely a sipper, and it's decent if a bit boozy and barrel-heavy.
