The term ‘Kakawa’ is the Mayan origination from where cocoa bean derives. This beautifully balanced stout combines decadent chocolate with rich, roasted malt body. The addition of lactose gives a silky, almost creamy texture which perfectly complements the undertones of coffee and vanilla. Brewed exclusively for Lidl UK

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from Lidl on Well Street. Pours clear brown with a creamy, tan head. Medium sweet flavour with chocolatey malts, subtle roast, a little milky coffee, vanilla beans, minimal bitterness. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Pretty well balanced finish, more sweet chocolate vibes, a little earth, vanilla. Tasty, easygoing beer.

Very dark brown colour with quick fading head. There's lots of chocolate in this one. Ok for a low strength stout.

Can at home picked up from Lidl Watford. A dark caramel brown coloured pour with a rocky khaki head. Aroma is funky farmyard cocoa, dusty coco beans, hint of green pepper, brown bread, coco pops. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, nutty choclate, fruit and nut, hazelnut, light tanglayered brown malts, brown bread. lingering woody cocoa. Palate is semi sweet, light tang, moderate carbonation, Not bad.

Can from Lidl Inverurie. It pours darkest brown to black with substantial khaki head. The aroma is sweet, big hit of milk chocolate, gateaux, biscuit, Cadbury's chocolate fingers, nutty, roasted malt and dull coffee. The taste is dry, rich roasted malt, light char/ash, bitter - sweet, chocolate is more subdued than on the aroma but still present, cacao nibs, nuttiness, praline, splash of cola and a touch of earth with a dry, toasty finish. Light to medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Actually drinks pretty nice. Good balance.

Can from Liggles. Clear deep reddy brown. Very decent soppy tan froth. Easter egg chocolate. Dry ashy malts. Light roast. Taste is semi sweet. Some ashy bitterness. Drinks easy and smooth. Dry light bitter finish. Good gear, especially seeing as it’s February canning date.

440ml can. Poured almost black in colour with a lasting frothy off-white head. The aroma is roasted malt, light chocolate. The flavour is moderate to light sweet and liqourice bitter, with a smooth, light, slightly watery, roasty, light chocolate, liqourice bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average to soft carbonation. A typical supermarket stout.
