We call it our session lager with good reason: light on the palate, subtly hopped, with a sweet, biscuity malt finish. The Hawkstone Session is not just easy-drinking, but it's also incredibly moreish.

Keg at Brent House, Brent Knoll in Somerset. Ordered the cider and got what must be the lager. Clear gols. Very fizzy. Thin foamy white head. Aroma has light malts ans a vague hint of citrus. Bitter. Tart. Some soft malts and citrus but all a bit caustic and soda watery. Light. Thin. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry slightly astringent finish. God awful.

Pilegrimsleden går alltid via The Wheatsheaf i Borough Market, og det er mange år siden den ble "changed beyond recognition". Fra fat: klar gylden med fint skum som varer. Brød/lys malt, mild citrus og like milde urter. Behagelig furunålsbitterhet i avslutningen. Balansert og lettdrikkelig.

On keg at Crown Inn, Marston Montgomery - clear yellow fizz with a short white head. Biscuity malts, a bit grassy, a tangy little hop finish. Easy going enough, but one is the max and move on.

Half pint at The Fat Cat. Clear golden pour, lasting fluffy white head. Grainy, bready aroma. Taste is malty, biscuity with a mild sweetness. Very smooth.

[33cl bottle from my local Waitrose.] A straw coloured pour with a fast fading white head; sweet cereal grain aroma; crisp grainy taste with a touch of citrus; and a clean grassy bitterness to finish. Quite tasty, but just another lager.
