Christmas on Fire 2024 is a west coast IPA, brewed to save your palate from the heavy foods and sweet pastries that come with Christmas. The beer is dry and crisp, as a West Coast IPA should be, with an assertive bitterness. This year’s version is hopped with Chinook, Centennial, Columbus, and Amarillo hops for a dank, citrusy, and piney hop character. God Jul!

Sample on tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Deep golden colour, white head. Aroma and flavour of piney hops, fairly dry, also notes of grapefruit.

En bedre inngang til førjulsgledene en en nhyggelig kveld på Salikatt Taproom kan man neppe få. Jeg starter med en parallellsmaking av denne sammen med Resin Rush og Solar Flare, alle fra fat. Lett uklar gylden med fint skum som varer. Crisp og elegant med furunål/eukalyptus, grapefrukt, noen tropiske frukter og litt krydder i en velsmakende maltkropp. Fin bitterhet i den lange, halvtørre avslutningen hvor også den velkjente Salikatt-mersmaken viser seg frem.

Can. Color: Slightly hazy golden, frothy white head. Aroma: Floral and lightly citrus hop, dank hints. Taste: Hoppy, dank notes, floral, some citrus and hints of pinetree and citrus zest. Malty base, hints of caramel. Just over medium body, average carbonation. Moderate to over moderate bitterness and sweetness. Dry-ish bittery finish. Ok.

8-3-8-4-16 Can, #754, seven weeks after canning. Pours unclear orange, with a big creamy head. Aroma is piney hops with marmelade, grapefruit and stone fruits, as well as malts with cereals, toffee and heathery minerals. Medium to full body, with fairly soft carbonation. Flavour is piney hops with citrusy notes of grapefruit, orange peel, lime, litchi and stone fruits, as well as malts with cereals, hay and heather. Lingering piney hops with a dry finish.

Draught @ SKAAL Sønderborg, on Mr Bamsen’s birthday. Pours nearly clear amber with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and yeast, with fruity and citric touches. Bitter flavour of hops and citrus, with notes of cloves, malt and yeast, and hints of fruit. Bitter and spicy aftertaste with estery touches. Decent.
