(Draught at Rake, Borough, London, 26 May 2022) Amber colour with frothy, tan head. Malty nose with caramel, nuts, apricots and bread. Malty, fruity taste with notes of apricots, caramel, toast, nuts and a gentle, slightly dusty, bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain malt sweetness. Really tasty and well made bitter. Very nice.

Draught keg at the Barley Twist, Nottingham. Brownish gold, mostly clear with a small off-white head.light malty smell, some grain, perhaps a touch of honey. Tastes a bit musty, slightly sour with a savory almost umami character at the end. Short finish. Light body with medium to heavy carbonation. Really boring and hard to get excited about.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours every so slightly hazy blonde - brown with minimal head. The aroma is nutty, spicy, underlying sweetness, digestive biscuits, barley husks and cereal. The taste is fairly crisp, dry, bitter - sweet, earthy, digestive biscuits, grassy, floral, warming spice, woody, brown bread, earth and a touch of toffee with a dryish finish. Lighter end of medium body and lowish carbonation. Not as well polished as the usual Newbarns offerings. It's just fine overall.

Can from Cork & Cask. Clear amber body with a lots of tiny flecks beneath a thin off-white head. No visible carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of earth, rust and stewed tea. Flavour of rust and earth. Thin body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. This has a sharp, metallic flavour that, for me, just needs a touch more sweetness.
