Panda at home, thanks to Kenny, 10/09/23. Deep amber with a beige cap that thins to a swirl. Nose is sweet malts, caramel fudge, port barrel, fruit cake mix, brown sugar melt. Taste comprises figgy jam, brown sugar melt, sticky toffee pudding, surprisingly airy malts, good port barrel vibes, caramel, dates. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost. Solid port BA BW.

Clear deep amber beer, small pale tan head. Enticing vanilla tinted oaky port nose. Smooth palate, slightly soft, good fine carbonation. Fluffy malts, a light creamy sweetness, smooth caramel. Lovely smooth vanilla oak with rich ripe berry fruits. Red berries and dark berries, juicy and fermented and slightly spicy. Smooth finish. Wow! If your going to do a Port Barrel barleywine, this is how to do it. A delight.

Bottle. Pours a hazy dark earthy brown with a light brown head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has sweet grains and toffee with a bit of caramel and a touch of port underlying. Flavor has port and sweet grains with a bit of toffee and a hint of caramel backing.

Gigantic and massive, certainly, with a huge front of caramel, cocoa, dates, black cherry, and tobacco, followed by strong notes of oak and finished off with a port flourish. Pushes my boundary for sweetness in a beer, but never crosses it. Good pint.
