Keg at the Old Coffee House, 25/02/14. Black with a well appointed tan head that stays for the full performance - this beer does indeed look the bollocks! Full glass lacing ensues. Nose is punchy hops, coffee beans, light roast, more coffee, pine resin, tropcial fruit pangs. Taste comprises a big espresso assault, bitter hops, spice, peppery notes, roasty bite, pine, bitter tropicals. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, lingering coffee finish with a dose of hop bitterness. This is right up my street, love coffee, love pine, believe in the CDA, live the dream !

Keg at the Old Coffee House - Soho, London. Pours black-brown with a dense, beige cream head. Rich espresso in the nose, some heavily roasted malts and dark chocolate. Medium sweet flavor with intense coffee bitterness, bittersweet baking cocoa, scorched pine, earth, grapefruit rind. Medium bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Charred malts in the finish with more hefty coffee, espresso character, baking cocoa, burnt wood. Ballsy stuff. Would make for a great morning beer.

Keg at Old Coffee House. It pours black with a thick light tan head. The nose is rich roast, coffee grinds, jammy berry, peppery and ash. The taste is rich roast, strong coffee, earth, resin, toast, burnt notes, ash. citrus peel, good deal of bitterness and light fruity undertones with a dry, rich roasted finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Pretty intense stuff, which is heavy on the coffee. Punchy and big on flavour, but I couldn’t drink a lot of it!

Old Coffee House. Keg. Thanks to Rocket Rudkin for the gen. Opaque black - brown- beer, good pale cream - tan coloured head. Palate is soft and airy with light fine carbonation. Smooth dark malt, distinctly coffee - cream. Good generic bitterness, touch of citric peel but no real pine. Finishes smooth and dry with a medium bitter linger. Wasn’t at all sure this was a Black IPA but brewer Johnny assures me it is

Keg at The Grove, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, Friday 14th February 2014 Pours black with light beige head. Coffee prominent on the nose with hops amazingly playing very much second fiddle. This dominence continues the coffee leads the way but this time carried gorward on fresh zappy hops, a bitterness and roastiness battling it out, Loz is right we should have got Brodies for Merton. Superb! ----- Having nother Liz is right I am tight this is 4.3 easy........whoa actually I really loved this, faced with a fantastic range of beers in the Grove I stuck mainly with this, brilliant beer, upped it to 4.5 A9 A4 T9 P4 Ov19 4.5
