Chevalier Floral ne contient pas de vanille. Nous avons assemblé des barriques de bourbon Heaven Hill avec une barrique de bourbon ayant contenu ensuite de la vanille. Cet assemblage est à la base deux stouts très différents ayant séjourné pendant 13 mois dans ces fûts. Vous y trouverez des notes des notes chocolatées, de vanille, de spiritueux et de cuir. La texture est ronde, mais sans lourdeur, avec des saveurs intenses entremêlant le bois, la vanille et le bourbon avec une touche de chaleur agréable.

Pitch black colour, oily. Aroma of cookies, tar. Thick mouthfeel, dark sugars, some tar, it's sweet, but there is much more going on and it doesn't feel too sweet; wood, alcohol.

Poured from leftover 375mL bottle (from beerplace/mcberko tasting). Dark brown with no head. A bit boozy, some very mild underlying vanilla, feint charred oak. Average.

Dark brown, inky. No head. Dark sugar up front on the nose. Spicy alcohol and wood character. Light fruitiness lends it some vibrancy. Soft heaven hill character. Good complexity, nice soft sweetness. I don't get much overt vanilla but it's well-balanced.

375 (thx, Mac C. for the super fast delivery!) @ Matt's new place. Appearance: dark brown with no head. Aroma: charred oak, bold, some sweetness. Taste: along the same lines, boozy, with some meaty notes. Not sure where is vanilla in here. Overall: ok.

375mL bottle, pours jet black with a small light brown head. Aroma brings out a sort of charred bourbon character, with burnt sugars, maybe a hint of vanilla. Flavour has plenty of charred oak, burnt sugars, and a hint of vanilla. Dry, charred finish, with a meaty character. Very oily on the palate. Pleasant on the palate, but the flavour profile is not all that intricate or sophisticated. Good but not excellent.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a dark brown foamy head with light retention and some light lacing. Aroma of strong bourbon and woody notes with some vanilla and light chocolate notes is also perceptible.Taste is also a mix of strong woody notes with some bourbon and vanilla and some dark chocolate with a dry finish. Body is pretty full with an oily texture and good carbonation with some apparent alcohol notes. Major barrel-aging notes in this stout.

Very dark brown with hardly any highlights. Minimal head and lacing. Big nutty and soy sauce aromas with a roasted malt base, and some blended cocoa powder. The taste shows nice bitterness between bitter chocolate and hints of black liquorice. Very rich, but not sweet, a little boozy and again, a nice base of roasted barley, chocolate malts. The mouthfeel is slick, lightly oily at first, but dries up very much. An interesting Imperial Stout with lots of bitterness and dryness. The Bourbon is very well-hidden in here.

A deep dark stout with no head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, licorice, light soy sauce, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, licorice, alcohol warmth, light vanilla, light peated notes, excellent. On tap at Hautes Plaines location.
