My wife brought this one back from a trip to Rochester. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy orange-brown color with a medium sized foamy orange-tan head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sweet caramel, pine, resin, lemon and toffee. The flavor was bitter and tart with a strong Sweettart candy presence and notes of chalk and perfume. The finish was medium length dry chalk and Sweettart candies. Medium body. Eh.

This Pale Ale poured a cloudy dark orange colour with next to no head, even after a vigorous pour.Scents include pasta, cheese, bread and malt. First taste was sour with flavours of muck. I think this one is off. Finish is bitter and unappealing. A drain pourer...

Cask. Golden amber ale with a thin big bubbled white head. A rather vegetal aroma, boiled veggies, and chalky notes. In mouth, a rather strange unappealing taste of rye, dust and boiled cereals. A strong Nova Scotia tea. The Real Beer Expo - Rochester, NY, Oct. 21, 2006.

Get this at the Old Toad on tap at Park Street Rochester, NY. Brownish gold color. Nice sweet/bitter aroma. Very malty towards the beginning but thins out and ends up drier than I would expect. They use this in their black and tans and it goes well with guiness, though I would expect less hops and less carbonated. They should put this on cask.

Brown in colour, almost absent in smell. Nice bitter flavour, but not real strong. No balance between the elements of the beer. Had from the tap at the Old Toad in Rochester, New York.

Dark amber; some fresh malt & floral dry hopping; crisp, almost astringent bitterness; refreshing finish. Not much balance and certainly not English.
