The rich depths of Spanish Oloroso sherry are imbued into this expression of the Baltic Porter, absorbing the oxidated higher fruity notes alongside soft, creamy nuttiness.

Keg at the brewery. Opaque dark brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, mild fine carbonation. Smooth toffee streaked dark malts. A little dark chocolate. More toffee before modest sherry. Light finish. Nicely integrated. The sherry blends in well from the start and doesn’t seem like an afterthought.

Bottle from Eebria, consumed at Isobels, Eardisley, Herefordshire, Thursday ?New Years Eve? 31st December 2015 Pours dark brown and like the standard version this has the same big billowing creamy textured off white head. I guess having tried the bog standard version it is clear that the standard version really was a blank canvas to highlight what the BA can do. With this Sherry cask you can detect a woodiness and softness but you can also pick up a warming booziness. From the off there is a sherry and woody aroma and the cask ageing has improved this hugely. Sweeter with some dried fruit steeped in alcohol, bugger I have drunk it all,ok end of rating, it’s v.good. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov17 4.0

Keg at the brewery tap, 04/12/15. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a well appointed khaki head. Nose is light roast, chocolate raisen Club biscuit, dark fruits, earthy, subtle sherry fumes. Taste comprises bitter roast, chocolate, dark malt, treacle toffee, liquorice, light spice, faint charr. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, light warming alcohol in the close. Solid BA affair, well balanced, subtle sherry, not too sweet.

Keg at the brewery during the 3rd anniversary party. Pours deep brown with a lasting, creamy tan head. There’s skittle vanilla on the nose, ripe berries, plum, wood, slight cocoa. Light-medium sweet flavor with a slightly odd, dirty-woody character, earth, more dark fruits, roasted malts. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish, some hat, burnt caramel, old wood, earth, dried fruits. Not bad.

Tap at the brewery. It pours black with a decent tan head. The nose is rich, jammy, tangy berry, definite sherry vibe, dried apricot, fruit cake, dull permanent marker pen and candied peel. The taste is rich, rather bitter, charred/burnt wood, chewy malt, burnt fruit cake, slick, salted liquorice and tannins with a dry, salted finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Hot! Nice aroma, but a bit harsh on the taste. Overall not bad.
