We love a black IPA here at Elusive! We also love experimenting with new hops and this dark hoppy beer offered us offered us the perfect opportunity to kick the tyres of a New Zealand newcomer called Nectaron which brings notes of stone fruit and citrus. #BIPACOMEBACK

Can from Grain Schooner. Dark brown body with a thick beige head that holds well. Steady carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of Twiglets, coffee and charred wood. Flavour of dried orange peel and rust. Medium body with a powdery mouthfeel. Light fizz. Ashy and tangy.

Can. Clear but deep brown beer, small tan head that doesn't last long. Palate is light, semi dry and has a good fine minerally crisp snap. Overall it feels a tad thin though. Thin but richly flavoured brown malts, good earthyness. Decent crisp piney hops and a little berry fruits. The Nectaron tropical character comes through on the crisp finish but it isn't exactly what you would call punchy, quite meek really. Overall a solid bipa. Quite drinkable.

Can. Beer Central Sheffield. Hazed deep chestnut brown. Off white foam is lasting and semi lacing. Nose has ashy malts and coffee dregs. Touch of blackberry jam and grapefruit. Taste is bittersweet with the emphasis on the bitter. Smooth and big bodied. Foamy carbonation. Lingering ashy bitterness to finish. Solid BIPA.

Can ordered from Elusive brewery webshop, Finchampstead, Berkshire, UK. Consumed at home Monday 1st November 2021 listening to the self titled debut album on vinyl by Ultimate Painting about to start cooking a variety of Tapas dishes. Pours dark murky brown, nutty, bitter, hoppiness and a little caramel. Fresh, clean, nice twisty citrussy bitter bite.

Can at home in Hackney - sourced from the London Beer Lab. pours rich brown with a lasting, foamy beige head. Medium sweet flavour with nice restrained roast, a little burnt pine and cocoa, fresh citrus fruits, orange and grapefruit. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Soft resin in the finish, more sturdy roast, wet pine, orange rind, baking cocoa. Lingering bitterness in the aftertaste. Excellent CDA.

Can from the Virtual Salford Independent Beer Festival Thursday box. Aroma is fruity with a pine edge. Underlying dark chocolate then comes through. Opaque cola brown. Creamy beige head. Medium bitter - charcoal - with a tangy stone fruit and citrus edge that then takes precedence. However the bitter core does remain in place. Medium bodied. Slick. Average carbonation. Long dry finish. Enjoyable. Restrained. Fruity but dark.
