5/V/18 - sampled @ Tilquin English Beer Festival - BB: n/a (2018-631) Thanks to the Belgian ratebeer crew for sharing today's beers!
Clear dark brown beer, creamy irregular beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: very roasted, bit acidic, vinegar, red wine notes, bit funky. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty roasted start, bit sourish, fruity touch, chocolate and coffee notes. Aftertaste: lots of dark chocolate, some coffee, tannins, dry finish.

Growler fill. Little Leeds Beer House. Clear, very dark, mahogany brown. Slick of tan head. Nose has tar and blackcurrant liquorice. Some cherry stone. Red wine dregs. Oak and vanilla. Soft brett twang. Taste is silky, chocolatey sweet, with a tangy, red wine vibe. Mouthfeel is slick and oily. Low carbonation. Drinks super easy. Big twang of bretted red wine and liquorice to finish. Which is, in my book, a very good thing indeed.

Bottleshop. Keg. Clear deep brown beer, thin pale tan head. Light palate, semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Oaky bitterness, mild brett, Oud Bruin fruits without the sourness. Some floral bitterness on the finish. Very drinkable.

On tap at The Bottle Shop Bermondsey. Black beer lasting tan head. Expecting lots from this. Chocolate barrel sour aroma. Sour in mouth. Good old ale. Some tar and molasses. Light booze on finish. Pretty awesome. I love a sour old ale. Just a little too tarry maybe. Good though.

Keg at the Bottle Shop - Bermondsey. Pours black-brown with a tight, creamy khaki head. Nice aroma, plenty of ripe dark berries, old wood, mellow funk. Medium sweet flavourbwith relaxed berry tang, vague dark malts, maybe a suggestion of cocoa, a bit of brett, cherry, blackberry. Medium to full bodied, lightly oily, with fine carbonation. Lightly warming to finish, with more tangy dark berries, old leather, alcohol, rotting wood, soft brett funk. Great depth, and super drinkable. Really fun beer.
