This Coconut Tree is stuffed with so many tropical flakes that a Mounds bar would be jealous!

To make it, Highland Park created a blend of three different BA Stouts. One part aged for 11 months in Old Fitzgerald bourbon barrels, a second spent 11 months in Brown Forman Rye Select casks, and a third matured in Woodinville bourbon barrels for a year and a half. After mixing the boozy infusions, the crew conditioned the brew with 21 lbs per barrel of toasted coconut — a third of it double-roasted for extra nuttiness.

Scopey returns tasting at Kernel. Thanks to Nathan. Opaque dark brown beer, small and short lived tan head. Palate is smooth and pretty light for the 13% abv. Smooth rich dark malts, good rich dark chocolate liqueur. Smooth and well integrated coconut. Boozy spicy bourbon fruits. Smooth light finish. Rather good.

500mL bottled 2023, drunk 9/29/23. Dark, possibly clear. Small, tan head, low retention. Nose is coconut, rich, mellowed and fruity. Cakey malts and soft bourbon. No edge here, very coconut forward. Soft, lighter bodied for the style and well attenuated with light roast and big caramel. Clean and fruity with lots of coconut. Doesn't have the richness and depth of the top tier stuff, but if you like a lighter, slightly drier impy it's perfect.

Bottle at the Kernel share, thanks boyos! It pours oily darkest brown to black with a small khaki head. The aroma is heavy and sweet, vanilla, toasted coconut, touch of spice, chocolate, bourbon soaked and some praline. The taste is slick and thick, oily, heavy with plenty of sweetness, rich roasted malt, toasty, toffee, vanilla fudge, toasted coconut, some spice, treacle, chocolate cake and plenty of warming boozey boost with a slick, sweet finish. Fulsome body, fine carbonation and oily mouth feel. Sits a bit heavy and sweet, but fun stuff in small measures
