375mL bottled 2021 at the brewery, 9/13/23. Dark, clear. Ruby-tinted mahogany with a quickly receding, chalk-colored head. Nose is moderate lactic acidity with light dark fruit, malic-like cherry and a healthy amount of toasted character and brown bread. Maybe missing a more comforting note (honey, caramel, vanilla) and seems quite tart and acidic, though clean and with good minerality. Some seaweed-like umami is interesting, emerging after extended warming. Reasonably soft texture dries out quickly with toast, mellow lactic acid and hints of cherry, pepper and raisin. Breadiness builds slightly on the finish. Flavors, like the nose, are somewhat timid and perhaps dulled by the toasted, bready character. Good mineral character, though no real funk. Just needs more malt depth, at the end of the day.

Bottle thanks to Brian. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong oak, leather, mineral, dark fruit. Slick body, similar flavors to nose, nice tartness, enjoyed this.

Bottle shared in Hazlemere - big cheers to Dave. Pours mostly clear amber-brown with a foamy, white head. Lightly sweet with mild acidity, some toast, toasty accents, mellow funk, earth, citric tang. Light bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Quenching finish, more citric tang, moderate funk, semi-dark malt accents. Delightful.
