Bottle shared at Chris and Ruth Pre-GBBF 2017 tasting - London. Cheers! Bottle 850/991. Pours rich brown with a creamy, tan head. The nose holds burnt toast, lightly tangy dried and leathery fruits. Medium sweet flavour with some vague roast, cocoa, more dried fruits. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Sweet finish, some milk chocolate, ashy roast, scorched earth. Decent sauce.

Bottle at C&R Pre-GBBF Tasting 2017. It pours near black with a massive foamy beige head. The aroma is toasty, earthy, wood, tar, dark fruits, plum, charred notes and burnt tires. The taste is dry, bitter, earthy, rich roasted malt, charred wood, ashy, dried fruits, charcoal, burnt tires, salted liquorice and umami character. Full bodied with moderate - high carbonation. Pretty interesting stuff. A bit harsh is places, but fun to sip.

The great pre GBBF bottleshare at ChrisO’s. Opaque dark brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is airy, semi dry and has decent carbonation. Smooth dark malts, modest dark chocolate and cream. Light spice. Surprising and unwelcome apple. Some esters and coffee. Smooth floral finish. A few odd things going on here.

750ml bottle pours a deep mahogany brown with some sudsy beige head. Nose is dusty, lots of chocolate, some bread, caramel. Flavor is slightly infected, a little plastic, some malt, chocolate, bread crust. Spritzy finish. Either a little infection or it’s aged horribly.
