330ml bottle from Ales by Mail. Pours clear amber with a thin white head. Aromas of nuts, biscuit, grassy hops. Taste is more of the same. Very traditional style, but well made.

Cask at the Harp. It pours lightly hazy amber with a medium off-white head. The nose is earthy, toast, brown bread, berry and kinda cheesy hop. The taste is smooth, toasty, brown bread, earth, light peppery notes, leather and wood with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Old leather sofa on the finish. Pretty old-school for my taste. So-so.

Cask at the Harp - London. Pours clear amber with a modest, foamy white head. Lovely, sessionable bitter, mild brown bread, some ripening berries. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Great condition. Balanced finish, further ripe berries, light leafy bitterness, balancing bready sweetness.

Cask at EBF XVI, 09/11/13. Hazed chestnut brown with a thin light tan covering. Nose is bready malts, light spice, dark fruits. Taste comprises dark toffee, pinch of spice, bready malts, tangy fruit notes, straw. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry bitter notes in the finish. Acceptable bitter but wouldn’t be rushing to find this one again.

Had this at Oxford Beer Festival, Oxford, Thursday 17th October 2013 My second beer of this festival and the second from this new brewery. I have to start by commenting on the fact that this is another good beer from Clarkshaws. This starts off a little sweet with chocolate prominent, good low to middling bitterness, I guess that this is a standard bitter (not 100% sure) if so the bitterness is about right. Fruity nose with citrus showing, malts come to the fore with chocolate again. Nice stuff and another popular beer with my work colleagues. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6
