A robust, yet surprisingly refreshing porter, Mud Puppy is a favorite of dark beer lovers. Characterized by a thick, rocky head and luscious chocolate-like nose, the malty profile is balanced by liberal hopping for its style

Peanut butter, charred oak, soil, cocoa nose. Cloudy mahogany, thin yellow head, decent lace. Molasses, charred oak. Medium body, easy carbonation. Intense and full flavored. This is my second beer from this brewery and I’m becoming a big fan.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a lightish cola colour near the bottom, all with a thickish, two centimetre tall light brown head. Aroma of figs, nuts, earth, caramel, raisins and a hint of chocolate. Medium-bodied; Assertive nutty flavour with some slightly pungent earthy and floral hops, a good vanilla flavour and quite a bit of the pit fruits noticeable. Aftertaste is smooth yet assertive with some vanilla, chocolate, roasted malt and oak noticeable, but very clean alcohol and earthy notes make this go down relatively easy. Overall, a nice beer for the style with nothing outlandish, but solid, good flavours make this worth finding if you like the style! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Good Beer in New York, New York on 19-July-2014 for US$2,39 sampled at home in Washington on 26-August-2014.
