An unfiltered deep gold body topped by a well laced white head. The nose punches with fresh grapefruit and malt. A juicy IPA with slightly more malt than a classic west coaster, but I’m likin’ it. Taste profile leads with a slightly rindy (that’s a good thing) grapefruit hoppiness, orange and mango. The malt is solid, bready and slightly sweet. Medium plus carbonation, a nice smooth texture and a medium density are all good with me. Well done, Barnstormer.

On tap at the brewpub. Lots of West coast hops. Big citrus notes, lots of zest, but a solid caramel, biscuity malt backbone also. Medium to high bitter finish with some solid hops, but they fade and arnt as prominent at the aroma promised.

Can thanks to Kristian, shared at Taphouse, Copenhagen (20/02/2020) - hazed up golden pour with a white head. Sweet fruity and malty with some lemon and grapefruit, peachy notes, sweet malty backbone, medium body, hoppy bitter close.

Can in the hotel room Mississauga. Hazy deep yellow straw with a frothy white head that persists. Loads of citrus on the nose with bits of bready malt underneath. Loads of hop bitterness lingers long into the finish, nothing subtle about this one. Decent beer.

Tap at Loose Moose, Toronto, 12th July 17. Pours clean, aroma is good. Flavour is plentiful. Solid stuff.

Can: Poured an amber color ale with a nice large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of citrusy and bitter hops with light malt presence. Taste is a mix of citrusy hops with some bitter notes and some dry malt presence. Body was full with good carbonation. Not a big fan of the grain bill for this beer and bitterness could have been reduced in favor of more aromatic hops.

Pours a hazy golden-amber colour with an off-white creamy head that stays long and creates great lacing. Nice citrus aromas with some grapefruits and oranges, all blended with breaded malts. Slightly oily mouthfeel with some decent dryness in the finish. Again, citrusy in the taste with some growing bitterness. A very nice IPA with grapefruit and orange peel all well-balanced with some good malts. Would have again and a great first experience from this brewery.

A golden ipa with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, nice crisp biscuit malt with resinous floral hops, grapefruit pulp, nice and pleasant. In mouth, a nice crisp biscuit malt with resinous floral hops, grapefruit pulp, clover, green, nice and bitter. On tap at the Cheshire Cat.

Bottle from the brewery. Slightly hazy pale copper with a small off white head. Big citrus and pine nose with a touch of spice and some floral notes. Light sweet toffee start supporting a much more bitter middle and end. Mouth is medium light with soft carbonation with a nice dry lingering finish. Nice tasting IPA, however this is the fourth style I have tried from Barnstormer and all seem to be a bit thinner than would be expected.

(Tap sample at Bar Hop, June 30 2014) Pours a lightly hazed pale copper, small white head, no lace. Aroma is faint grassy, resiny hops with a light citrus component, caramel, bit of grain. On the palate, caramel core, a bit floral, light resin, pine, bit of citrus but hops rather faint. Grain from mid-palate on rather pronounced. Only fairly lightly bitter. Mouthfeel and carb both fairly average. Uninspiring really, not enough hops and too much grain, kind of bland for a west coast IPA. Promise from the brewery but more work needed, very glad I’d got a nice fresh GLB Canucklehead cask pint instead.
