DESCRIPTION
Schunkeln is our first hefeweisen and we’re really proud of it. A full bodied mouth feel, with tasty yeast esters. Banana, cloves and a hint of coriander in the taste. Best served whilst swaying in a beer hall to a rhythmic beat.
Artwork: This is Jim. Jim is our brewer and Simon’s right hand man. He is more lovingly known in the brewery as ‘The Wizard’.

Tap@Ørsted Ølbar, Copenhagen - Almost clear golden yellow pour with white head and lacing. Sweet fruity with some prominent banana notes, light fruity medley in support, straw, yeasty and wheaty, touch floral hoppy, light herbal and citric spice into the finish.

Bottle from Thirsty, drunk in. Dark gold, hazy. Little ring of white head. Light lemony/spicy aroma. Notes of baker’s yeast, ground coriander and kaffir lime. Taste is sweet, noticeably spicy and pleasantly refreshing without being overly engaging. Some sour/bitter notes in the finish provide balance, and there’s pepper in the aftertaste. Full body. Decent, but by no means exceptional.

Keg at the brew dog... Golden amber.. Thin white lacing.. Soft dry floral lemon fruit nose... Soft dry zezty lemon fruits. Bitter herbal fruits

Bottle shared on Level 42 19/07/2017. From hop burns and black. A mostly clear yellow straw, with a loose white head. Aroma is earthy wheat, tangy lemon, hint of banana. Flavour is composed of. Earthy grains, straw, hay, dirty cereal grains, grassy hop. Palate, is crisp, grainy highish carbonation. Ok.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Fergus. Pours hazy gold with a frothy, white head. The nose has some ripening white grape, melon, wheat, pale grains. Light sweet flavour with notes of plastic, bitter grain husk, faint wheat. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with some chlorophenols, more plastic, hay, grains. Not great.

Bottle split at L42, thanks to Bropey, 19/07/17. Clear golden with a decent white head. Nose is light nana, melon, spice, straw, caramel. Taste comprises bready notes, grains, slightly astringent profile, dusty, musty, clove. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Average stuff.

Bottle at L42. It pours clear pale gold with a medium white head. The aroma is fairly sweet, plenty of foamy banana, candy, clove, cereal, toasty grain and a touch of candied orange. The taste is fairly clean, straw, sweet, perfumed, toasty grain, straw, grassy, light spice and banana with a drying finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Not a huge amount going on.

Chelmsford Beer Festival. KeyKeg. Hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and fairly dry, good fine minerally crispness. Smooth malts, sweetish and slightly grainy. Sweet floralness. Light bubblegum and banana esters. Spicy lemony citrus. Light crisp finish leaves some tangy bitterness. Benefits from the KeyKeg I think, could have been stodgy on cask.
