Handpull cask at the Criterion, Leicester. Creamy yellowish gold and hazy with a bit of white head. Pineapple yoghurt, cantaloupe, lemon balm and a touch of papaya greet my nose. Not a massive scent but certainly enticing. Sweet taste at first but the bitterness hits mid-sip. Unfortunately the finish is a bit acrid. Light body with more cantaloupe in the aftertaste. A decent drop.

The Alma. Keg. Hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and semi dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Light malts, dry and with a little creamy sweetness. Good fresh orange, just a little thin. Mild hop spice, mild pine. Touch of lemon in the light finish. Thin but tasty.

330ml can. Murky orange with a big frothy head. Juicy tropical fruit aroma, grapefruit, peach. Taste isn't as juicy as the aroma or name suggest, tropical and stone fruits are there but it's very yeasty, a bit grainy and minerally, moderate bitterness (but fairly high for the NE style). Light-medium body, average carbonation. Ok, not a great example of NE pale ales though.

Keg at Alma. It pours lightly hazy golden - yellow with a medium white head. The aroma is quite fresh, green, grassy, dank, onion, garlic, lemonade, candied peel and white sugar. The taste is dry, crisp, bitter, pithy, zesty, grassy, soapy citrus, bit green, pine needles, lemon sherbet and some minerals with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate+ foamy carbonation. Keg version of this is decent. Maybe better than can/cask judging by others.
