This beer was built to cleanse and refresh. A straw coloured golden beer with light white head on top. The light aroma brings grainy pilsner malts, fresh aromatic hops and nuances of dried fruit. On the palate it is crisp, lightly hopped beer with an unassuming ability to quench your thirst. FG: 2.5

First of two Ontario Pilsner tonight (the other being the Perth one). Pours a light golden colour with a white cap, almost creamy, long lasting and with some creamy lacing. Sweet malty nose with some bread notes and honey. A little hops, but more apparent in the taste. Decent bitterness and Saaz notes. This calms down the sweetness in the mouth. Good cereal malts overall. Refreshing, crisp and quite drinkable. Maybe a little too rich for a pilsner.

Actually has a slightly fruity smell to it. A little raw wheat and a little apple sweetness. Taste is crisp, even a little bitter. Pours blond. No head. High carbonation. Aftertaste pretty much zilch but for a little bitterness. Really not bad for style. Tap at volos.

Draught at Volo, Toronto
Deep blond color, with compact head. The aroma is anonymous, a bit papery and yeasty. Dry mouthfeel, with the same profile. The bitterness is stronger than the average
Simple.

This pilsner poured a really light yellow colour with a short lived bright white head. To the nose at first came a citrusy wine scent with a little cider thrown in. First sip was hoppy with a imediate bite of hops then a little corn syrup and citrus towards the end. I could also taste a little smoke thrown in. The palate was a lingering hoppyness that lasted quite a while.

Hazy blonde with a thin white head. Maderized honey aroma with light cardboard. In mouth, chalky malt with notes of honey, crisp german hops, and medium body.

Bottle: Poured a dark yellow color pils with a nice bug bubbly white head with pretty good retention. Aroma of crisp hops and nice floral malt are very enjoyable. Taste is quite refreshing with some lightly sweet floral malt and a nice crisp hops finish. Body is a bit too thin and I would have appreciated more carbonation but this is still a very enjoyable pils.

Stonehammer has suffered a lot lately. At one time a credible German pils, this now has a lighter body, a lot less hop and less malt. All round, it is no longer a pilsner, let alone a good one.
