The quintessential English mid strength ale – a perfect balance of malt and subtle hops.

This fine deep amber-coloured beer has a good bitter sweet balance, this beer has a subtle hop character described as citrus and spicy from Goldings and Fuggels. It’s a refreshing and very satisfying pint.

Cask at TBH, London on 12th June 2015. Deep copper with off-white part-lacing film. Malty aroma with leafy herbiness. Plenty of caramel malts in-mouth and a biscuity kick. Malty finish, tangy on the tongue, but all rather short-lived. Light bodied with a fairly smooth mouthfeel, easy drinking.

Cask at the brewpub. Dimpled mug. Mid amber coloured pour with a nice thick creamy head. Aroma is nice raisin, dried fruits, English yeast esters, semi sweet malts. Flavour is tangy apple, toffee apple, little caramel, dried fruits. Blood and metalic iron in the finish really weird. Kind of apple surbert thing going on. Palate is medium light. . with decent cask condition.

Cask at Temple Brew, 16/12/14. Clear copper with a moderate off white covering that soon dissipates. Nose is caramel, straw, ripe fruit notes, biscuit malt. Taste comprises rich caramel licks, red berry tones, vanilla, quite sweet for a bitter, caramel wafers. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close with light bitterness and sweet licks. Decent enough bitter if a little sweet for style.
